The Symbol of Independence in Accra

Independence square in Accra. Independence Arch in Accra. The symbol of independence in Ghana. Located in the capital city of Accra. I got the above image of the Ghana Independence Arch In Accra from Getty Images.

I was looking for a suitable image that would represent and capture the gate of Accra. The above image still reminds me of when I was a kid. That was a long time ago. It is a symbol of freedom for so many Ghanaians.

It is especially for the old generation of Ghanaians. They were born before the  independence of Ghana from the British. I would often travel from Tema to Accra by bus. Not just once. Multiple times.

The independence arch in Accra always brings me so many beautiful memories. Ghana was a different place back then. Great place! Accra was especially a spectacular place back then. This is the symbol of independence.

The Ghanaian Cedi had so much value. You could do so much with one hundred Ghana Cedis. Life was different back then. There was something magical about approaching the independence arch of Accra, as the bus was moving at full speed.

Watching it, as the bus moved, was another wonderful experience. I wanted to capture every second before it was too late. The structure was incredibly powerful back then! Still find it very powerful and irresistibly attractive today.

Leaving it behind me was always a mixed emotional experience. Fascinating. Powerful! Memorable. I have not been to Ghana in a lvery long, long time. I hope to write more again about the independence Arch in Accra, Ghana, soon
