The city of Accra, which serves as Ghana’s capital, is plagued by poverty. The World Bank estimates that 27% of Accra’s population is subsistence-level. Limited access to school and work possibilities, a high unemployment rate, and a lack of affordable housing are all factors that contribute to poverty in Accra.
